“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”- Voltaire
Within each of us blooms a thinker, a philosopher and most importantly, a good human being that can be a ray of hope or a guiding hand for someone out there who needs our help. And In this fast paced world of technology, social media has become a #helpinghand for us.
The question arises, does liking or commenting provide us with help? Those who will just smile this question away, let me transform your smile into laughter by saying yes. Yes liking and commenting is quite productive because they act as a platform of freedom of speech!
They freedom to share your abstraction, the freedom to speak about your right, the freedom of bringing your even besmirch thoughts into writing because nobody is stopping you but they’re criticizing you. There’s a thin line here now, the criticism is not putting you down it’s raising you up. It tells you how to respect each other’s point of view and develop a better understanding of the topic. It helps you out in carrying a healthy debate. It makes a person more open towards criticism (either positive or negative). Overall free speech is all the game, Free speech is life itself.
So let yourself merge into the world, let social media be the platform where you can knock down the cultural, racial or ethnic barriers and let your writing be the first one to start it. Let’s bring back the souls we lost just because they were loud enough to say their view. Let’s put our voices into words and the world know, the departed ones have left but their words haven’t.
Summarizing it all with Benjamin Franklin’s lines, “Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.”
